Rupert MurdochIt’s good to see the art of a colourful and interesting CEO quote is not dead and this week has provided three fine examples I’d like to share in case you missed them.

First up the ever loquacious Ryanair boss Michael O’ Leary on the apparent controversial decisions being made by his arch rival, the currently embattled Stelios Haji Ioannou: “Obviously the Queen, when she knighted Stelios, hit him a bit hard with the sword”

Then there is the emperor of media manipulation, Rupert Murdoch, who, when discussing the future of newspapers, said: “Our real business isn’t printing on dead trees. It’s giving our readers great journalism and great judgment.”

Then finally there is Jerry Yang, the ousted chief executive of Yahoo!, who said: “”All of you know that I have always and will always bleed purple”. Presumably he was not referring to his corporate assassination in an “et tu brute?” style.

These are all magnificent soundbites that will be unearthed again and again for articles and if not the inspiration of those speaking, they prove a credit to the speechwriters or PR advisors. Feel free to add some recent great CEO quotes of your own.
