Small fry for Publicis?

Publicis DialogYahoo!’s £2.5 million integrated advertising business win by Publicis Dialog is pretty small fry for the agency which only a year ago held heavy-weight accounts such as the £45 million Asda work and the Post Office’s £12 million business.

But Publicis is certainly not in a position to choosey at this point with its number of losses this year far out numbers its wins.

I am not sure Yahoo! is really the big business the company was hoping for in order to restore faith both internally and externally, but it is certainly a step forward.

Could this be the beginning of new things from Publicis under the new management of ex-Nike business Neil Simpson or is this just a further sign of how the mighty has fallen.

Because instead of fighting with larger agencies for big business wins like Waitrose and Axa, which are currently up for grabs at the moment, the agency is no longer competing against the big guys and is instead scrabbling for whatever it can get, even surprising smaller agencies when it turns up on the pitch list.
