Silverjet flies the flag

Things we approve of, number 964 (in an ongoing list) - Silverjet listening to staff feedback and introducing a stylised Union Jack on its tailfins.
The new business class-only airline has just added a Union Jack to its stylish silver tailfins after pilots pointed out there was nothing on the planes to indicate they were flying a British airline. Apparently the aircraft had plain tailfins previously and so the tailfin lights had nothing to illuminate.
The smart cookies at the airline realised that “Britishness” can still be a plus for the right brand for on the international stage and Strategic Fusion went to work on the design. For businessmen flying ‘twixt Dubai and Europe and New York and Europe it’s still reassuring to know the airline’s provenance, and in the competitive world of business flying anything that gives an edge is welcome. And it’s patriotic too.
The last time there was a future involving tailfins and Union jacks it did, of course, involve Margaret Thatcher and British Airways. We’d like to think the Baroness would approve…

Silverjet have also done a spoof remake of the classic British Airways commercial saying they’re the world’s most “sivilised” airline. Posh English voiceover by Joanna Lumley:
