Orange cinema ads hit the (Gold) Spot

Rob LoweThe Orange marketing team has seduced blue eyed brat pack hunk Rob Lowe into starring in the latest Gold Sport cinema ad.

Created by Mother, the cinema campaign has been running since 2003 and seen a parade of stars willing to poke fun at themselves for the Orange marketing dollar. In fact, while most actors prefer to have their advertising careers shown in the Far East or elsewhere, a la Lost In Translation, Orange has a unique knack of attracting top talent.

The roll call includes Darryl Hannah, John Cleese, Steven Seagal, Ewan McGregor and even Darth Vader (right, I know he’s not real).

But my favourite has to be Patrick Swayze, not an actor of which I am usually enamoured. However, his whole passionate pitch for a Ninja-style revenge thriller that the board insists changes from “the silent hunter” to “the chatty hunter” had me in stitches. Which of the Orange ads jostled your funny bone?

The Snoop Dogg one completely tickled my funny bone init. Snoops face is enough on its own to make any homme chuckle, but it’s when he gets into a gangster argument with the Orange boss which is really funny. ‘Mr Dog’ as they call him, doesn’t like being told to rap about ‘off peak calls’ and not about ‘riding with da honeez’, so he tells the boss that ain’t his stizzle lizzle, to which the boss realises only extra z’s can win this battle of wills, his reply goes something like this, ‘you can rantazzzle my fantazma gazzle.’ Genius. YouTube it.
