Mirror’s new website gets savaged
Posted in Media February 8th, 2007 by Arif Durrani

The Daily Mirror’s new website has been comprehensively shot down in flames in the first week of its launch.
The home page, www.mirror.co.uk, now boasts three embedded video players but has been widely panned for its celebrity coverage, over reliance on multimedia elements and soft news features.
In a savage 500 word attack, former Mirror editor-turned Guardian critic Roy Greenslade denounced it as “the most embarrassing content any British newspaper site has ever featured”.
Could this explain Matt Brittin’s premature exit as Trinity Mirror’s director of strategy and digital last month?
Regardless, it will all be music to Murdoch’s ears, whose rival Sun website (also recently revamped) has received accolades all round.
But has the criticism been fair, or is everyone entitled to teething problems?
