With thousands of Britons mired in doom and gloom, cowering as the redundancy axe hovers over them and struggling with rising food and energy bills, Camelot’s new “positive” advertising campaign might be the perfect antidote.

Focussing on the positive attitudes of those who enter the draw, the ads aim to extenuate the upbeat nature of those who play and the excitement generated from taking a punt on the Lotto.

Perhaps cash-strapped consumers should dust themselves down and adopt a can-do attitude….by gambling. Boom! That glass is suddenly half full again. I am freed from the shackles of economic woe and ready to live and breathe again! All after buying a ticket!

It’s the new century’s version of what Norman Tebbitt’s “get on your bike” instruction with “Think Lotto” a mantra to be included in all future self-help manuals.

It’s all about POS-I-TIV-ITY.
