Can Apple be the king of all things entertainment?

As if it wasn’t enough for Apple to be the world’s biggest computer manufacturer, and then MP3 player brand, and last year challenging existing mobile phone manufacturers with the launch of the iPhone…Apple is now taking on television and DVD companies.
Who needs five different devices when Apple will soon be able to offer it all on either Apple TV, computers, iPods and iPhones.
Apple is the closest a technology brand has got to offering a multifunctional device and as it has got in before anyone else it will most likely dominate this sector. I mean just look at the market penetration of the iPod – how can it go wrong when it continues to keep one foot ahead of its competitors and it has got the much-loved, powerful Apple brand backing it to boot.
The brand has also pulled in all the major movie studios, including 20th Century Fox, Universal and Walt Disney, to allow iTunes users to download rented films so Blockbuster and digital satellite download services watch out, your days are numbered…
But will the UK be hit again with higher prices than the rest of Europe as it was with iTunes until last week? And can Apple really dominate all things entertainment or (as the iPhone has demonstrated with teething problems such as a short battery life, small two mega pixel camera and an inability to import MP3s) is not even Steve Jobs and his clever team capable of getting everything right first pop.
